Physiotherapy Services: |
Here at Jackie Frazer Physiotherapy I understand that every patient has an individual problem and treatment is tailored to their specific needs.
No two bodies are the same. |
| |
However a mixture of the following is often used in a physiotherapy session.
Please feel free to contact me for any more details. |
|
● Soft Tissue Techniques: |
| |
Hands on specific massage is a vital part of any physiotherapy treatment, and is used to loosen tight muscles, ligaments, and tendons, to enable freer movement. |
● Mobilisation/Manipulation: |
| |
This is where small movements are applied by the therapist to stiff immobile joints, to encourage active movement. Jackie generally uses low grade oscillations to achieve this and is trained in Cyriax, Maitland, McKenzie, and Sarah Key techniques. |
● Acupuncture: |
| |
Jackie is fully qualified in the use of acupuncture for pain, musculoskeletal problems, and stress, and is able to offer this valuable service if required. This entails the placing of sterile, single use needles at various points on the body, depending on the area being treated, which are often left in place for 20 minutes. The needles are very fine and the treatment is often relatively painless and produces excellent results for some conditions. |
● Exercise Therapy: |
| |
Home exercises are an integral part of any physiotherapy programme and are often essential to secure long term results. These are suggested personally for each patient and are geared to the fitness level of the patient and the type of injury. |
● Electrotherapy: |
| |
Additional electrical treatments such as ultrasound, TENS, interferential therapy, and laser can be used to accelerate tissue healing in some conditions, depending on the medical history not all patients are suitable for these but it will be offered if it is appropriate. |
● Postural Advice: |
| |
Prevention of reoccurrences is a vital part of any physiotherapy treatment and advice may be given on appropriate positioning at work or home. |
● Home Visits: |
| |
Although Jackie is able to offer a wider selection of treatment options at the clinic, a home visit may occasionally be required. This is usually if the patient is in too much pain to travel or in the case of the elderly where it is often useful to advise on the home situation. Each case is usually discussed individually |
